Untitled/Stuck
Date
May 2025
Project type
Sculpture
Location
The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York City
This piece was made with melted and hardened sugar placed with and on top of each other to create a towering city-like structure. Hanging above this sculpture was a Lexan box with a hole cut out of the center that was covered with water soluble plastic bags. This box was then filled with a cornstarch and water colloid mixture that broke the plastic bags and fell down and coated the sugar sculpture underneath, and the surrounding floor. This process created a cathartic release and merged the two materials creating a new piece from the sum of the two elements.
