Lost Long Term
Project type
Sculpture, Installation
Date
January 2024
Location
George W. Carver Center for the Arts and Technology
In this installation titled Lost Long Term, I melted Lexan plastic into stacked misshapen circles and ovals and projected photos from my childhood through this sculpture, in order to memorialize my childhood best friend who passed away in 2023. This sculpture not only memorializes Sasha’s life but shows my frustration and grief of not being able to recall the closest childhood memories I have with her. This frustration is communicated with the shapes the sculpture casts on the images and the refractions of light that make the image unclear. At times you can only see her eyes or her smile, conveying my fragmented and lost long term memories of the first friendship in my life.
